As is my usual routine, yesterday I awakened early and went down to the lobby to check my email. With noone else around, I´m able to use the computer beyond the alloted 10 minutes. Another tourist, a man in his 50´s, often is here at the same time, and we exchange pleasantries. Yesterday I waited for the computer he was using because of the familiar keyboard. After he left, I used the machine and noticed as I logged off that he hadn´t closed any of the windows he had been using. As a favor, of course, I would close his also. Turned out to be all porn! I was so startled that I didn´t even peek! I´d like to sidle up to him the next time I see him and whisper, ¨Hey, I closed all your windows for you.¨ Dear husband, Jim, doesn´t think that I should go there. Started the day off with an unusual twist!! (Guess who's here now!)
In the afternoon we took one of the infamous Mexican buses downtown and to Old Town. I am not as enamoured of the flea market as many others seem to be. Not far from there is an area that reminds me of the River Walk in San Antonio. I prefer browsing there because the vendors don´t seem as desperate as those at the Flea Market. I do not do well when bargaining is expected. ¨Livie will soon be wearing a sweet little white dress I found in a shop in the river area. The woman who sold me the dress makes the clothes and her friend does the painting of the garment. They are all exquisite.
Afterwe got hungry we went to an open air cafe, Tia Catarina, that has food ¨to die for...¨ Tortilla soup is very popular here and altho we have tried to duplicate it, our attempts can´t compare. I only eat chili rellenos in the Southwest United States because gringos just don´t know how to prepare them. Last night my chili rellenos were superb, like none I have ever tasted before. Instead of green peppers, this chef used a large red dried chile and stuffed it with corn, shrimp, and cheese. ¿Is your mouth watering yet? The margheritas are not bad, either!
After my sleepy companions wake up, we plan to bus up north on the coast to see what we can see.
That´s all folks! At least for today!
