The Department of Rhetoric, Communication & Journalism at Oakland University (Rochester, MI) seeks applicants for two tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor beginning fall 2007 for the Rhetoric and Writing Studies program.
The successful candidates will teach first-year composition and upper-division courses for our proposed Rhetoric & Writing major, will develop new courses for the major, and will pursue active research agendas. Expected teaching assignment is 3/2.
Required: PhD in Rhetoric and Composition in hand by fall 2007 and demonstrated excellence in teaching writing on the post-secondary level. Preferred: experience teaching with new technologies. Areas of interest might include: literacy and new technologies, visual literacy, writing across the curriculum, history of rhetoric, pedagogy, or rhetorical theory.
Submit letter of application indicating research and teaching interests, detailed CV, one-page statement of teaching philosophy, and the names and contact information for three references to andersen@oakland.edu. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. For full consideration, applications should be submitted by March 25, 2007. CCCC interviews possible.
