[ncte-middle] Pakistani Keypals

Last week many teachers were asking their children for ideas on ways to
help in the aftermath of Tuesday's tragedy. A seventh grader at my
school raised her hand when asked how to contribute and said we should
write letters to the children of Pakistan and Afghanistan so they know
we are not mad at them. Her simple but eloquent suggestion started the
ball rolling. With the help of two Australian teachers I was able to
contact an American of Pakistani descent who is very enthusiastic about
helping match American classrooms with Pakistani classrooms via email.
I have listed Kathleen's address here in the hopes that other schools
will contact her and honor an idea for a world peace based on mutual
understanding and respect. As teachers we know the pen is mightier than
the sword. Write to Kathleen Kisting Alam at kka@nexlinx.net.pk

Thank you,
Mary Ann Driscoll
