Our school is also fundraising for the Red Cross, and today a member of
our dept. suggested we take pieces of butcher paper and put them up for
our students to write messages of support to those in New York. She
suggested we send them to the Mayor (though I'd be happy to send some to
any of you in N.Y., if you want to email me offlist with your school
addy!) I plan to leave mine up for a week or so before sending it. (or
longer, if I know the mail service in NYC is still down....)

[At one level, this is good for *my* students, but I'm also hoping it
will be supportive for those on the receiving end--I don't think we can
ease their pain, but perhaps it will help to know that others are
thinking of them....]

On another subject, I want you all to know that when I heard the news
Tuesday, one of the first places I looked for support and comfort during
our national tragedy was this list. Thanks for being there!
